As I’ve written before, God is purposeful in all that he does and says (as well as all that he doesn’t do and say). And we know that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired by God.
So, what does David mean when he writes in Proverbs 18:22, He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord?
I think that David wrote that because marriage is something that God promotes. Not only does it create a life-long commitment in which we can grow spiritually, it also is representative of our life-long commitment to God. Such a special relationship can be the basis of many good things, like having a partner to love, work together, and raise children if the couple wants them. A wife or husband can be a blessing from God.
